Two Sakawa Brothers Sentenced to Four Years for Exhuming 10-Year-Old Boy’s Body for Rituals

Two brothers were sentenced to four years in prison for their involvement in alleged ritual practices known as Sakawa.
This ruling came from the Kasoa Ofankor Circuit Court in Adawukwa, within the Awutu Senya West District.
The sentence was delivered by Judge Linda Amissah on February 21, following the brothers’ conviction for exhuming a 10-year-old boy’s body for ritual purposes.
The incident occurred in January near Awutu Bawjiase and provoked a violent reaction from the local community.
When the brothers were caught in the act of digging up the child’s remains, they were attacked by a mob.
The brothers, Fofo Agboyemeh, a mason, and Kwame Agboyemeh, a carpenter, suffered severe beatings and were subsequently taken by police to Bawjiase Polyclinic for medical treatment.
According to reports from GhPage, the boy had been buried just three days before his body was exhumed by the suspects.
During police questioning, the brothers confessed to planning to use the remains for ritualistic purposes.
Authorities noted that this was the fourth occurrence of a body disappearing from the community cemetery shortly after burial.
This pattern has raised alarms about potential ritual activities in the area.
