Ghanaians are hypocrites – Cano Z
Ghanaian musician, Cano Z of MTN Hitmaker Season 3 fame has chastised Ghanaians for their hypocrisy when it comes to issues bothering on Music made in Ghana.
Speaking on eTV’s Late Night celebrity show with Foster Romanus, Cano Z bemoaned the lack of support from Ghanaians towards music made in other different Ghanian languages apart from the two widely spoken ones.
He said he would have appreciated it more if it were just mere issues that have to do with the language barrier but to know that Ghanaians love and appreciate music from elsewhere and made in other languages that they are not even familiar with makes it hard to come to terms with.
” Ghanaians embrace easily and jam to music made in South Africa, Nigeria, and other foreign countries even though they don’t understand those languages.” He said.
He went further to allude to the recent brouhaha about which songs should get more airplay in Ghana.
“A recent call from some entertainment industry persons in the country and music lovers, in general, has been about DJs and radio hosts playing 80% Ghanaian content on-air thereby leading the campaign about consuming what is produced in Ghana with even Shatta Wale suggesting that 95% of songs played on Ghanaian radio stations should be of Ghanaian origin.
All these are attempts to revamp the Ghanaian music industry and take it a step further.
It’s sad, isn’t it? ” he asked.
