I Didn’t Want To Go Into Acting Due To The Sterotype Around The Industry-Christiana Awuni
Veteran actress, Christiana Awuni has opened up about her career.
The Kumawood legend, who has been in the industry for over two decades, has revealed that acting wasn’t appealing to her when she first started out because people had a negative perception of actors in the Main Soap Concert Group.
Agya Koo, Akrobeto, and Christiana Awuni are among the stars of Key Soap Concert Group, a successful stage play that occupied television screens in the mid-90s and early 2000s.
Christiana Awuni revealed that actors in the Main Soap Concert Party at the time were labelled promiscuous, and she didn’t like acting as a result.
Speaking on Adom TV, She said
“I used to make tie and dye (fabric).” Because of the stereotype around Key Soap Concert Party actors at the time, I didn’t want to pursue acting,”
“Actors who take part in the Main Soap Concert Party have been the subject of a number of derogatory rumors. At the moment, no one respected them. If you enter the Key Soap Concert Group, your family will reject you.”
“They thought the performers in Key Soap Concert Party is promiscuous. This was due to the fact that they could tour for one to three years and that women were actively involved in the process. People cultivated a negative reputation to the point of being irritating,”
“As a result, I wanted to pursue music instead. Then it was suggested that I begin with Key Soap Concert Party and then pursue a music career. I was asked to an audition, but the fact that it will take place on hotel grounds turned me off. I was persuaded to go, but when I arrived, there was none of the sort.”
