Jaden Smith To Set Up Restaurant To Feed Homeless People Free-Of-Charge

Jaden Smith is planning to start a restaurant in Los Angeles to help feed the homeless.

After running the I Love You food truck company, the 22-year-old actor and singer – who is the son of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith – will start a new restaurant named I Love You to help feed individuals living on Los Angeles' Skid Row.

For the past two years, Jaden's food trucks have provided free meals to homeless individuals in Los Angeles, but the new restaurant will provide a more permanent answer to assisting those in need.

According to Variety, the restaurant would recover costs by charging customers who can afford it a higher charge to “pay for the person in front of you.”

“It's for homeless people to obtain free food,” Jaden said in a statement. If you aren't homeless, however, you must not only pay, but you must pay more than the meal costs in order to pay for the person in front of you.”

The news is the latest humanitarian endeavor by Jaden, who previously co-founded the 501CThree non-profit with Drew FitzGerald with the objective of employing smart design and engineering to solve challenges related to water, food, shelter, and energy.

Jaden and Drew then utilized their nonprofit organization to establish the Water Box, a mobile water filtration system that was utilized in 2019 to aid people of Flint, Michigan, have access to clean water after years of battling a municipal water source polluted with lead.

“This has been one of the most gratifying and informative experiences for me personally,” Jaden said. Working with individuals in the community who are experiencing the issues and finding a solution for them has been an experience I will never forget. More Water Boxes will be deployed in Flint and other towns suffering similar issues.”
