COVID-19 Affects My Waakye Business Positively – Reggie Rockstone Reveals
Ghanaian musician, Reginald Nana Yaw Asante who is widely known as Reggie Rockstone has said that the Covid-19 pandemic Had A Positive Impact On his business.
In an interview on Y107.9 FM’s Y Leaderboard Series, he disclosed that although the pandemic caused a lot of havoc, it, however, had a positive impact on his business.
According to Reggie Rockstone, during the covid era, he started to deliver goods and services at the doorsteps of his customers. “We were selling the food in our club so people would come there to buy and those who knew about it came to buy but, there was also a whole bunch of Ghanaians who did not know I was selling waakye“.
He disclosed that when he had a clash with Shatta Wale last year, many people thought he had just started selling waakye but he has been in the waakye business for about three years before he mentioned it publicly.
Reggie Rockstone stated that during the pandemic, he realized he had to be smart to take advantage of the situation hence the door-to-door delivery.
“Because at the time, deliveries were the thing and nobody wanted to die but we wanted to eat. So all the folks who had eaten my waakye before became the immediate customers for delivery and that just blew up and the jar came along. That also got bigger with all the controversies that came with it”. he said.
The “Plan Ben” crooner added that during that period, they made huge sales and has been like that since. “I had folks fly out of town just to come to have interviews about the waakye and this happened during the covid period”.
