Nicholas Clayton Mullens is an American football quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings.

Born in Little Rock, Arkansas, Mullens grew up in Hoover, Alabama, and is the grandson of Ernie Tabor, who pitched in the Philadelphia Phillies minor league system in the 1950s.

As a collegiate he played college football for the Southern Miss Golden Eagles, where he surpassed Brett Favre's single-season school records for passing yardage and touchdown passes.

 Mullens was signed by the San Francisco 49ers as an undrafted free agent out of college and has also played in the NFL for the Cleveland Browns leagues.

In high school, Mullens played football for Spain Park High School, where he won the 2012 Gatorade Player of the Year award for the state of Alabama. He later signed with the Southern Miss Golden Eagles, where he became the first true freshman starting quarterback in Southern Miss history to pass for more than 300 yards in a single game.

In 2016, Mullens made 11 starts and completed 243 of 384 attempts for 3,272 yards and 24 touchdowns, averaging 297.5 passing yards per game.

In May 2017, he signed a contract with the San Francisco 49ers. On the depth chart, he was ranked as the fourth backup quarterback going into training camp. He was recruited to the practice squad after being released in 2018.

He was Jimmy Garoppolo's backup in 2019 until starting for the 49ers in their Week 9 matchup with the Oakland Raiders. He signed a one-year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2020, however the team released him.

Additionally, Mullens inked a contract with the Cleveland Browns in 2021, and he was added to the active roster. He was selected to start at quarterback for the Las Vegas Raiders in 2022. He and the Vikings inked a two-year contract extension in 2023.
