Afua Asantewaa says she planned to host second Singathon at Times Square in New York But changed to Kumasi
Afua Asantewaa, who is well-known in Ghana as a media personality and socialite, revealed her plans to attempt to set her second Guinness World Record in Times Square, New York.
However, her dream of holding her singathon outside Ghana did not materialise.
In a video posted online, Afua Asantewaa addressed claims that she supported the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
She firmly denied the rumor that the NPP government gave her $1 million for her first singathon event.
Afua also mentioned that she received messages from people threatening to disrupt her event if it took place in Accra.
As a result, she decided to hold her second singathon in Kumasi, located in the Ashanti Region.
“Because you think I’m NPP and probably they gave me million, which is never the case, you are threatening me.
I remember when I was going to do my second attempt ,some people came into my DM ‘You are lucky you didn’t do it in Accra’. Come to Kumasi and stop it.”
Initially, she didn’t want to organize this new record attempt in Ghana. Her goal was to have it take place in New York from the start.
“You can threaten me but you can’t come to Kumasi and stop it? I could have done it in Accra. The interesting conversation is that those who know, know that the second attempt, we were planning to even do it at Times Square.
”
