Getting on the TGMA stage is not easy – Edem praises young artistes

Ghanaian rapper Edem has shared that watching young artistes succeed in the music industry reminds him of his own early journey in music.

Speaking on Joy Prime while discussing this year’s Telecel Ghana Music Awards, Edem praised rising artiste Morgan Nero and expressed happiness over the recognition younger talents are receiving.

“It’s one thing being alone in a movement and another thing feeling like you are part of a pack,” he stated, as monitored by Dklassgh.Com

Edem explained that he connected deeply with the excitement shown by younger artistes because he once experienced the same feeling during the early stages of his career.

“I was genuinely excited for him,” Edem said while speaking about Morgan Nero. “You could clearly see how happy he was.”

The rapper also used the opportunity to remind people that performing on the TGMA stage requires dedication and hard work.

“People should not underrate it,” he stressed. “Getting onto that stage is very difficult.”

Reflecting on his beginnings, Edem recounted how he started performing around Aflao and nearby communities alongside local music groups.

“I was moving between Aflao and my father’s village,” he shared. “At the time, there were no producers around, so we used instrumentals from foreign artistes and rapped over them.”

Edem further revealed that his admiration for legendary producer Hammer greatly influenced his musical ambitions.

“I was a student of the game,” he said. “I studied the albums and the sound carefully.”
