Stonebwoy has revisited the 2020 incident at the Independence Square that became a major point of tension between him and Sarkodie, saying he felt humiliated after travelling to the event and being kept backstage for hours.
“I came all the way, I landed, I came there, the backstage, and you guys gave me the inhumane treatment. I am not blaming you directly for it, but it’s your name only. Y’all gave me the inhumane treatment ever. You humiliated me, kept me behind the stage,” he said during a TikTok live session.
Stonebwoy said he was sick at the time but still stayed at the venue throughout the event. He said he even slept backstage for several hours.
According to him, things changed after he woke up and realised that what he had been told earlier was no longer the case. He said this led to a confrontation with Sarkodie’s manager, Angel Town.
Stonebwoy said he was later accused of trying to hit or slap Angel Town, but denied intentionally doing so.
“Then they told me, say I came to hit him, I came to slap him. All of those ones were on the side. That notwithstanding, if I had the intention to hit or slap or cause chaos, would I come there in the first place when I’m sick?” he asked.
He said he remained backstage until the programme ended despite being told that he would no longer perform.
“I humbly stood there with the discipline and principle that I have in my heart as a boy grown well from home. Discipline, proper, proper. I stayed there at the backstage of the Independence Square the whole fucking night till you closed your show,” he said.
Stonebwoy later went to Sarkodie to explain his side of the incident. He said he was told during the confrontation that his hand had made contact with Angel Town’s eye.
“I decided to come and talk to you directly and say, yo, Killer, I no slap nobody. Boys dey hold boys, tempers flare. Boy said my hand entered ein eye. If my hand entered your eye, okay, cool. I’m here to apologise before I go. That’s what I did,” he recounted.
