Ghanaian musician Stonebwoy has stated that his decision to publicly apologise after the 2020 Independence Square incident is something he now regrets, claiming his lawyer remains unhappy with him over how he handled the matter.
He said the incident did not end after his confrontation with Sarkodie’s manager, Angel Town. According to Stonebwoy, Sarkodie and people around him later reported the matter to the police.
Stonebwoy said he was told the police had received a statement claiming he was carrying a knife and guns during the incident.
“Somebody came to say I was holding a knife and I was holding guns in the statement. So the investigator asked him, say, are you sure? If we go investigate where this boy no hold anything you said, we will arrest you,” he recounted.
Stonebwoy said he eventually chose to apologise publicly despite maintaining that he had not intentionally attacked Angel Town.
He now regrets making that decision because, according to him, his lawyer believes he took responsibility for an incident he did not cause.
“Till today, my lawyer is angry at me for that move that I picked. Before they gonna realise, what did I do? I came online to come and apologise, rather as if I caused anything,” he said.
Stonebwoy’s account adds another layer to his long-running disagreement with Sarkodie. He maintains that he went to the event despite being sick, stayed at the venue after being told he would not perform and later apologised after being told his hand had made contact with Angel Town’s eye.
