King Promise is making headlines after winning Artiste of the Year at the 26th Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA). This is due to his well-earned win as well as the composed assurance with which he entered the stage.
The artist said that he never entertained any negative ideas before the event in an exclusive interview with Cookie Tee on TV3’s New Day on Monday, May 12, 2025. He said he was quite certain he would win the night’s largest prize.
“It’s 100% what I believed in. I said this earlier in an interview. I don’t put that kind of energy in the air, you know. I try to stay positive. Why put it in the air that if I don’t win? I don’t believe in hearsay. It’s really how I felt (winning the AOTY),” he stated.
To him, the win was not just a stroke of luck or public sympathy — it was a reflection of effort, vision, and consistency. “I believe my work spoke for itself. I try to make sure I always put the music first. Whatever shenanigans follow, it’s really like a secondary thing for me. In the year under review, my album that I dropped has done extremely well.”
“Healthy competition, for me, is not rivalry because everyone who was nominated for the award deserves to be there. For it to be something of a success, it had to be something of a challenge,” he noted.
