‘Sugarcane’ paid my debts and changed my life – Camidoh

Ghanaina singer Camidoh has stated that his hit song ‘Sugarcane’ completely changed his life, opening international doors and helping him clear his debts.

The singer disclosed that he was initially unsure about parts of the song’s promotion, especially the popular Glitch session version.

“I was like, why did you put all the tune on my voice?” he recalled telling his team.

However, he said he later allowed it to go out after being advised that he was “too much in his head.”

That decision turned out to be a major breakthrough.

“It became the biggest Glitch live session on their platform,” Camidoh told Kafui Dey in an interview. 

The singer also revealed that “Sugarcane” crossed over 100 million YouTube views and later reached about 145 million views.

According to him, the success came after years of struggle and persistence.

“Going with my own flow gave me 100 million plus, made me pay off my debts and all of that,” he shared.

Camidoh said he personally pushed the song online by constantly creating TikTok content and promoting it himself.

“Every single day, camera in front of me, boom,” he said. “I was just having fun with it.”

The musician added that the success of “Sugarcane” never trapped him creatively.

“It freed me,” he stated. “It opened the doors to the next chapter.”
