Ghanaians’ refusal to acknowledge his musical abilities has angered Kumawood actor and musician Kwadwo Nkansah, better known by his stage name, Lilwin. He has said it’s time to honor himself.
Despite his efforts and accomplishments in the music industry, Lilwin firmly claimed that he is a musical treasure in an interview with Papadat on Lawson FM. He also bemoaned the fact that industry people have ignored him.
In addition to his acting career, Lilwin noted his contributions to the entertainment business by saying, “I’m doing extremely well as a musician, but sadly, the industry keeps trying so hard to ignore me.”
Lilwin blamed industry prejudice for his failure to win accolades, especially at the coveted TGMA.
He said that rather than being based on merit, the awards system is influenced by a “who-you-know” culture.
“The organizers give preference to performers they know rather than those who genuinely deserve it.
“That’s our industry’s problem,” he said.
The multi-talented performer was not afraid to brag about his skills.
He claims that it would be hard to list five Ghanaian performers who are exceptional on stage without including him.
