“I Was Saying ‘I’ll Be Back’ To Give Myself Hope, Nothing More” – Kidi
Dennis Nana Dwamena, better known as KiDi, the Ghanaian artist, has explained why he said “I’ll be back” on stage during the recently concluded Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA).
After making that comment, the talented and award-winning musician caused a stir, and things only got worse after he missed out on the Artiste of the Year award.
Ghanaians trolled him mercilessly, with many believing he was bragging about himself when he made the comment.
He explained his comments in a recent interview with Andy Dosty on Hitz FM on Monday morning, indicating that he stated it for a reason that was far from arrogant or prideful.
He stated in his submission:
“I am a firm believer in the power of the spoken word. I didn’t say “I’ll be back” out of arrogance or pride. It was just me who gave myself hope.”
In the same interview, he admitted that his performance at the event fell short of expectations.
“At #VGMA22, I didn’t have a terrific performance. I could’ve done a better job. Many things transpired behind the scenes that contributed to my bad performance at #VGMA22. I’m not allowed to tell the public about what happened.”
