“I Just See Myself Like A Preacher” – Kwesi Arthur
Yesterday evening, Ghanaian rapper Emmanuel Kwesi Arthur held a private album listening session for his Son of Jacob album, which was released at midnight.
The atmosphere and the throngs of young people that assembled at the Barbados, One Airport Square, to celebrate the debut of the three-year-in-the-making album demonstrated that Ghanaian youth value exceptional craftsmanship, which is precisely what Kwesi and his crew delivered.
From where he sat, it was apparent that Kwesi didn't put his sweat into this body of work only to please his supporters and music fans. He also appreciated the tunes, bobbling his head to the beat whenever his interview with the night's host was interrupted to listen to a song.
But the question of how long this record has been in the making could not be avoided by any interviewer, or else he or she would be thought unfit for the job.
In response to this query, Kwesi stated that it was never his team's aim to stay so long.
“It was almost supernatural how this one came together.” We didn't plan for it to take as long as it did, but I believe that taking our time with it contributed to the project's being what it is today. We wouldn't have some of the songs on it today if it had been released two years ago, or even a year ago. It's all in God's hands. “
