We dress like boys because of what we do – Afronita
Ghanaian dancer, Afronita has said that her way of dressing is because of what she does.
Born Danita Akosua Adomaah Yeboah but popularly known as Afronitaa cleared the air on all assumptions that she is a tomboy.
According to the young dancer, wearing sneakers is a must because they can’t dance in heels.
“With sneakers, it’s a thing. We have to wear it because of what we do. You can’t wear heels,” she said.
The 19-year-old business administration student said that when it comes to her style, she was quite girly but if she knows she will engage in a vigorous dance, she’ll go in for baggy clothing because of the nature of her body.
“Most of the time, I wear girly stuff but if I know that the dance I’m going to do is very vigorous, I’ll wear something baggy because I have a body small so I don’t want to show the shape,” she indicated.
When asked whether or not she is a tomboy, in an interview on the Delay Show, the DWP member replied in the negative, shutting down all assumptions regarding her style.
“I am not like that. Even when I dress like a boy, I look like a girl,” she stated.
In this same interview, Afronitaa pointed out that dancing was her favourite blessing. According to her, “Dance has changed my life tremendously and I’ve met people I never imagined I would meet. I’ve been to places I never imagined I would be. Even because of this, I’ve acted in a movie. I’ve acted in two movies. It’s my favourite blessing.”
