Rudolph was a four-star recruit and ranked as the ninth-best pro-style quarterback in his class.

He attended the NFL Scouting Combine and was projected to be a second-round pick. In 2018, the Steelers selected Rudolph in the third round of the 2018 NFL Draft and signed him to a four-year, $3.92 million contract.

In 2019, was named the second quarterback behind Ben Roethlisberger. He made his first NFL start in Week 3 against the San Francisco 49ers and recorded his first win as a starter.

He had one of his best games as a professional, finishing 17 of 27 passes for 290 yards and two scores.

Rudolph's performance during the preseason was limited to third-string quarterback responsibilities, with Mitchell Trubisky and Kenny Pickett on the roster.

In the 2023 season, Rudolph was selected as the starting quarterback for the Steelers' Week 16 matchup with the Bengals, where he had one of his best games as a professional.
