Ryan William Bates, born on February 14, 1997 is an American football center for the Chicago Bears of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Penn State. Bates signed as an undrafted free agent with the Philadelphia Eagles in May 2019, and was traded to the Buffalo Bills in exchange for linebacker Eli Harold.

In Week 16 of the 2021 season, Bates started at right guard for the first time in his career. He switched to left guard for the rest of the regular season and postseason. The Bills tendered Bates as a restricted free agent in March 2022, and he was signed to an offer sheet by the Bears on March 24, 2022.

Bates was inked to a four-year, $17 million contract on April 4, 2022, and dealt to the Bears in exchange for a pick in the fifth round of the 2024 draft on March 4, 2024.
