Meanwhile, In Greek mythology, the most renowned king, Midas, is famed for his power to convert everything he touched into gold. The “golden touch,” or the “Midas touch,” was coined as a result of this.
According to Pausanias, Midaeum, a Phrygian city, was certainly named for him, and he is most likely the Midas who founded Ancyra, according to Pausanias (today known as Ankara).
According to Aristotle, legend has it that Midas died of malnutrition as a result of his “vain request” for the gold touch.
Legends of Midas and his father, Gordias, who are credited with establishing the Phrygian capital city of Gordium and creating the Gordian Knot, suggest that they existed in the second millennium BC, much before the Trojan War.
