“It’s Not Right To Be Comparing Artistes” – Gyakie

Jackeline Acheampong, popularly known as Gyakie, a sensational Ghanaian singer, has expressed her unhappiness with how certain musicians’ followers compare them on social media.

Some industry professionals and their fanbases, according to the award-winning singer, compare musicians based on what they do and what they have.

Ghanaians have a propensity of comparing new musicians to old musicians, especially when the new ones get recognition based only on a single song. Gyakie was recently likened to Efya following her viral smash song “Forever.”

Gyakie remarked in an interview with the BBC that most of the industry’s older musicians are the ones who paved the path for newer performers like herself and others.

“I don’t think it’s fair to compare artists, especially those who have paved the path for newer musicians like myself and others,” she added.

She stated that while industry comparisons are not essential, musicians must be prepared to collaborate as a team in order to showcase Ghana to the rest of the globe.

“I believe that all we have to do now is make the music, take Ghanaian music throughout the world, and then we can all win together,” she concluded.
