Experienced coach Sellas Tetteh has said that he hasn't received payment for leading Ghana to the U20 FIFA World Cup victory in 2009.

Tetteh oversaw the team when Andre Ayew and co. became the first African team to win the U20 World Cup in Egypt more than ten years ago.

Having previously led Ghana's U17 and U23 sides, the 66-year-old has a reputation for nurturing young players.

Prior to his return to Liberty Professionals in 2021, between 2009 and 2019, he served as the national team coach for both Rwanda and Sierra Leone.

Tetteh has said that after years of dedication to Ghanaian football, the game's top authorities frequently ignored him.

The coach, who had just made a full recovery from an illness, claims that he has not yet received anything for winning the U20 World Cup.

“Kurt Okraku and I have been talking about the fact that we didn't get paid as the technical staff when we won the World Cup,” he said in an interview with Sports Obama TV.

“They made no payment to us.” For that, there was a document. I went to speak with Kurt Okraku about it. They were at least supposed to give us $4000.

“As for the players' money and other benefits, they received nothing.” They saved it for them in a special account. Kurt Okraku and I have communicated with the decision-makers, but he has been preoccupied with the World Cup. I'll make an effort to speak with him and meet him.

After helping the Black Satellites defeat Brazil in the championship match to win the global title, Tetteh was named CAF Coach of the Year in 2009.
