The Australian actors, who met on the set of Correlli in 1995, are splitting after 27 years of marriage, per a statement shared with PEOPLE.

“We have been blessed to share almost 3 decades together as husband and wife in a wonderful, loving marriage,” the statement reads. “Our journey now is shifting and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth.”

The Jackmans married in April 1996. They share two children together.

The couple celebrated their 27th wedding anniversary in April. On Instagram, Hugh Jackman wrote, “I love you Deb. Today is our 27th wedding anniversary. 27 YEARS!! I love you so much. Together we have created a beautiful family. And life. Your laughter, your spirit, generosity, humor, cheekiness, courage, and loyalty is an incredible gift to me. I love you with all my heart.”

The pair attended the Met Gala together in May.

“Our family has been and always will be our highest priority,” the statement continues. “We undertake this next chapter with gratitude, love, and kindness. We greatly appreciate your understanding in respecting our privacy as our family navigates this transition in all of our lives.” The pair signed the statement “Deb and Hugh Jackman,” and clarified that it would be the only statement they'd make about the matter.

The Jackmans jointly donated over $1 million to the SAG-AFTRA Foundation to support striking actors last month.

Though the couple never collaborated on any feature films in an official capacity, they shared the screen in all 10 episodes of Correlli. Deborra-Lee also directed Hugh in a 2003 short titled “Standing Room Only,” which was part of the anthology film Stories of Lost Souls. They also appeared in the 2010 documentary Seeds of Hope and the 2014 documentary Dukale's Dream, which both explored Ethiopian coffee farming, and three episodes of Kimchi Chronicles in 2011.

Hugh Jackman is set to reprise his role as Logan/Wolverine in Marvel's upcoming Deadpool 3, which halted production at the start of the SAG-AFTRA strike in July.

has had a prolific career in Australian film and television throughout the 1980s and '90s, appearing in projects such as ShameJenny Kissed Me, and the American production of Newsies. She'll next appear in Force of Nature: The Dry 2 alongside Eric Bana.
