Gaston Glock Dead or Alive

Austrian engineer and businessman, Gaston Glock founded the company Glock in 1982. He developed the Glock pistol, which became one of the most influential and popular light firearms of the 20th century. Born in Vienna on 19 July 1929, Glock was conscripted into the Wehrmacht as a teenager near the end of World War II. After graduating from school as an engineer and joining a hand drill company, he began manufacturing curtain rods in the 1960s and knives for the Austrian military in the 1970s. He did not design or manufacture a firearm until he was 52 years old.

In the 1980s, Glock's expertise in polymers came into play when he purchased an injection molding machine to manufacture handles and sheaths for field knives intended for the Austrian army. Leveraging the experience of employees from the camera industry, skilled in producing polymer components, Glock ventured into the realm of firearm manufacturing. His inaugural creation was the Glock 17, a pistol that took a year to design and produce. In April 1981, Glock applied for its Austrian patent, marking a pivotal moment in the history of firearms technology.

Glock faced a dramatic incident in July 1999 when he confronted Charles Ewert, one of his trusted financial advisers, suspected of financial malfeasance. Ewert hired a French mercenary, aged 67, to carry out an attempt on Glock's life using a rubber mallet in a car park. Despite being struck in the head, Glock valiantly fought back, ultimately overpowering the assailant. Both Ewert and the hired assassin were convicted of attempted murder and sentenced to prison.

Gaston Glock demonstrated philanthropic endeavors, generously donating over one million euros to various Austrian charities and supporting the Freedom Party of Austria. Despite his global recognition, Glock maintained a low profile, valuing his privacy.

Reportedly, Gaston Glock has died at the age of 94. A company statement confirmed Gaston Glock's death, but no cause was mentioned. Given his advanced age, it's likely he died of natural causes, despite the absence of a specific cause.
