Hiplife Is Dead – Kofi Mole Says
In a recent interview with YFM, Ghanaian rapper Kofi Mole, formally known as Edward Kofi Agyemang Amoah, claimed that the Ghanaian music industry's hiplife genre is no longer making progress.
Insisting that the lack of activity by hip-hop artists in the music industry is the reason why hip-hop in Ghana is no longer as proactive as it once was, Kofi Mole made this claim.
He emphasized that rap in Ghana has transformed over time from hip-life to more American hip hop, supporting his remarks by stating that this evolution has taken place over time.
Hiplife, meanwhile, is a subgenre of American hip hop that combines Ghanaian culture and the hip-hop genre.
Reggie Rockstone, Ghana's hiplife “Grand Papa,” is credited with creating it, and many Ghanaian musicians have used it as their claim to fame.
