“I Had To Deny Shows When I Had Nothing On Me Because I Shunned Secular Music” – Yaw Siki Recounts

After quitting his previous life as a secular artist, Yaw Siki, the former hiplife musician, now a gospel pastor, has thought back on his struggles.
During his appearance on the GTV Breakfast Show, the “Wop3 Dodo” hitmaker discussed the significant sacrifices he had to make to go from a life of pleasure and popularity to one of spiritual discipline, particularly in the early years of his relationship with Christ.
Yaw Siki claims that denying himself possibilities that may have provided him with substantial financial relief was one of the most difficult things he had to do.
Shortly after deciding to join Christ, he remembered being tempted by music jobs while he was broke, but he refused.
“I remember when I transformed fresh following the Lord Jesus [Christ], and on waiting, some peeps called, and they wanted me on a song and a show, but I had to deny myself that; meanwhile, I had nothing on me,” he recalled.
Though his earlier life was filled with excitement, fame, and success, the rapper said it eventually left him feeling hollow.
“Initially, it was fun and pleasurable, and I was achieving the dream, but then I became empty while there. Two years after ‘Wop3 Dodo,’ I became so empty in my room, there was no joy,” he said.
“And in that emptiness, there was that small voice, leading, edging, or inspiring me to come to the Lord and serve the Lord.”
