“Shatta Wale Is Ignorant” – Kwabena Kwabena Explains (Video)

Shatta Wale highlighted one of his key worries about the Ghanaian music business and what has to be done to showcase our skills to the rest of the globe on Wednesday, June 2nd, 2021.

Shatta Wale, in his State of the Industry Address, challenged Ghanaian musicians to establish a genre that can be applied to all music produced in the country.

Shatta Wale claimed that he was asked what sort of music Ghanaians make at one of his meetings, much as Jamaica is recognized for Dancehall, Nigeria for Afrobeat, and Americans for Hip-hop.

He claimed that he merely identified himself as a Ghanaian Dancehall musician, but that he was questioned about the type of music that Ghanaians are renowned for.

As a result of this, legendary highlife artist Kwabena Kwabena has labeled Shatta Wale as illiterate, claiming that he needs to review his notes to understand what Ghanaian artists are known for.

Kwabena Kwabena told Abeiku Santana on Okay FM that Ghanaians have always been renowned for Highlife, and that this has been the case from the inception of music in Ghana.

According to him, most highlife performers receive invites to perform highlife music from outside the nation, and as a result, Ghana has a distinct genre in Highlife.

He also stated that it is acceptable for Ghanaian musicians to adapt to genres from other countries, but that they must always remember that Highlife is Ghana's original genre.
