“I’m A Fire Service Personnel” – Popular Dancing Referee Reveals
Videos of referee Somo dancing to amuse spectators during a community game went popular on social media.
Many fans in Bukom, where he lives, admire his style of officiating, which blends entertaining and humorous dancing.
Somo told Pulse.com.gh in an exclusive interview that he works for the Ghana National Fire Service in addition to refereeing.
When asked what he does outside of football, he said, “I'm a Ghana National Fire Service personnel.”
After seeing Somo supervise various demonstration matches featuring Division One clubs, many have asked if he is a professional referee.
However, Somo responded by revealing that he is not yet a licensed referee and solely officiates community matches and other non-Ghana Football Association sanctioned events (GFA).
“I officiate matches in Accra's neighborhoods. If I'm asked to play in such games, I'll gladly accept,” he said.
“I don't work as a professional referee, but I do officiate exhibition games for several Division One and Division Two teams.”
