Women Don’t Get Enough AirPlay In The Industry – MzVee
Vera Hamenoo-Kpeda, better known as MzVee, the Ghanaian musician who claims in an interview with Okay FM that it is troubling that female artists receive little airtime.
Compared to their male colleagues, who consistently receive limitless airtime from multiple media outlets, she claims she is unable to identify the cause.
Since there aren't many female musicians, she believed that in order to survive and have a significant impact on the industry, it was crucial for them to receive the necessary airplay.
“Even though this topic has been discussed a great deal, some people still refuse to acknowledge the reality of the situation. For example, when it comes to airplay, there aren't many women working in the field; we're a small minority, and we don't get nearly enough airtime.
Some radio stations do great to play our tunes, but primarily male artists,” she added.
