Fan Bases Becoming Toxic Is Worrying – Baba Sadiq
Baba Sadiq Abdulai Abu, an entertainment pundit, has raised alarm about how toxic fan armies have grown recently while interacting with one another.
He pointed out that while fan armies frequently engage in lighthearted banter about the accomplishments of their favourite artists, the rate at which it is growing is alarming and could have long-term effects on the entertainment business.
Additionally, he admitted that the toxic character of fan bases would have a negative effect on music promotion because it may harm musicians’ reputations.
Baba Sadiq Abdulai Abu counselled fan armies to be aware of their conduct, especially when engaging in fun banter with one another, during an interview with Andy Dosty on Hitz FM.
“At a certain point, the competitive aspect of fan army banter became a bit extreme. I mean, it’s fine for fans of different activities to engage in banter; we do it in sports like football. But when it becomes excessively toxic, it raises concerns,” he said.
“I mean, we’re analysing the impact of fan armies, and we’re looking at it from the era when they were very effective in music marketing. You would notice that in the last few months, the music marketing landscape has been constantly evolving for the better.
