The former Manchester United Coach, Sir Alex Ferguson, is married to Lady Cathy Ferguson.  Up until her passing, she had a significant impact on Sir Alex's career. All Glasgow natives, including Cathy Ferguson and Sir Alex Ferguson, little is known about Cathy's private life. However, Sir Alex, 81, and Cathy, 85, first met in 1964 while they were both employed at a typewriter factory.

 Prior to Cathy's passing, the pair had been married for many years. According to a statement made by her family on Friday, October 6, 2023, Cathy Ferguson has passed away.

 The statement reads: “We are deeply saddened to confirm the passing Thursday of Lady Cathy Ferguson, survived by her husband, three sons, two sisters, 12 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. The family asks for privacy at this time.”

For 27 of their years together Sir Alex was manager of Manchester United, and Cathy is said to have played a key role in persuading him not to retire in 2002.

Writing in his autobiography, Ferguson said she had told him: “One, your health is good. Two, I do not have you in the house. And three, you're too young anyway.”

When Sir Alex announced his retirement 11 years later, he said: “My wife Cathy has been the key figure throughout my career, providing a bedrock of both stability and encouragement.

“Words are insufficient to express what this has meant to me.”

The sad passing of Lady Cathy is one of heartbreak. She is survived by 3 children, Darren Ferguson, Mark Ferguson, and Jason Ferguson.
