Zaire Blessing Dwayne Wade is the son of American former professional basketball player Dwyane Wade and Siohvaughn Funches. He was born on February 4, 2002, in Chicago, Illinois, United States. He shares a sister Zaya Wade with his parents and two other half-siblings from his father’s latter relationship with Aja Metoyer and marriage with Gabrielle Union.

Zaire attended Mount Carmel High School in Chicago, Illinois, where he played basketball in his freshman year. His cousin Dahveon Morris was also on the team and they played together during their freshman years. Over the next two years, Wade played basketball at American Heritage School in Plantation, Florida.

During his senior year, he played for Sierra Canyon School, a private K-12 in Chatsworth, Los Angeles after taking a transfer. After high school, Wade took another transfer to Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire. He made basketball his focus and availed himself of Brewster’s nationally prominent program.

Wade made strides and earned much-needed attention from several coaches. He was offered scholarships from DePaul, Nebraska, Rhode Island, and Toledo, but chose to go professional.
