Well-known Ghanaian artist Fameye has told how he spent over 3,000 cedis in one night after splitting up with his fiancée.
On what was meant to be a happy day, he added, the tragic incident occurred.
In an interview with Accra 100.
5 FM, Fameye recounted the agonizing experience, saying he was expecting to enjoy the results of his labor until he received the news after getting paid for a gig in Winneba.
But he said that the shock of learning about the heartbreaking separation caused him to shave off his hair that evening. In addition, he went on a spending binge, wasting all the money he earned from the concert in Winneba in a single night.
“It was an unpleasant encounter. She broke up with me when I went to see her in Winneba after I had just returned from a gig, which was before I ever became famous. I got paid 3,000 cedis for the visit. Out of the 3,000 cedis, I even handed her 50.
He responded, “I just went to my room to sleep after cutting off my rasta.”
He said that even though he had to go see a female friend for comfort, he was still in agony, so he made the decision to go to a pub with several pals and spend all of his money on drinks.
Later, I went to see Winnifred, an old classmate, and I just broke down and told her everything. She comforted me and lifted my spirits gradually.
However, I wasn’t feeling well, so I went to a bar with some friends and spent all of my money on beers and kebabs to show that I wasn’t injured. The whole three thousand cedis were gone by the time I arrived home,” he said.
Fameye counseled his disciples to exercise caution and self-control in romantic relationships.
“Having a broken heart is not easy. I’ve found that loving a lady with all of your heart is quite perilous. Thus, use caution when dating,” he said.
