“I Invest A Lot Because I Don’t Want To Suffer When I Grow Old” – Mzbel
In an exclusive interview with Amansan Krakye, award-winning Ghanaian songstress and entrepreneur Belinda Nana Ekua Amoah, better known as Mzbel, revealed that she has put a lot of money into business because she does not want to be a beggar when she grows up.
According to Mzbel, she has seen several showbiz celebrities go bankrupt after their careers tanked, so she has learned from their misfortunes and will not cause the same fate to befall her.
It's unfortunate that someone who lived a prominent life as a musician, travelled to several countries and now the person is old or sick and we have to beg for aid to help that person, he said.
“I realized that it could be the system that doesn't favour us so I took a break to invest in other businesses so that in future when I become old it wouldn't be that people will have to do contribution to help me go to the hospital,” she added.
When you observe how some illustrious icons in Ghana become old and get sick and we have to announce for people to do donation or come to their aid, sometimes its very disgraceful, disgusting and sorrowful, she further stated.
Apart from that we don't have a lot of jobs in Ghana so it's a way of creating jobs for a few people so basically that's the main reason why I started investing in other businesses instead of the music alone
According to Mzbel's submissions, it is disgraceful and unfortunate to read in the news that celebrities who once lead popular lives and traveled to many countries are now elderly or ill and have no choice but to beg on the internet.
