Ghanaian music diva , Belinda Nana Ekua Amoah, better known in the entertainment industry as Mzbel, has declared that she will never host or participate in any kind of event with her former friend and coworker Iona Reine.
Recall that Iona caused a stir on social media when she broke up with Mzbel’s record label and forged a close relationship with her rival, Afia Schwarzenegger. Mzbel explained their falling out at the time by revealing, among other things, that Iona, who lived in her house, had made their private matters public, which is why she had decided to fire her.
However, Iona in an exclusive interview with Akwasi Aboagye. on Peace FM in 2023, apologized to the ‘Yopoo’ hitmaker, asserting that she had realized that it is in the best interest of humans to live at peace with each other, particularly, now that people are dying at a fast rate. This came in the wake of news of her repentance and re-dedicating her life to God.
“I have learnt a lot of things within these past three years. It’s not my wish to have any problem with anybody and I’ll use your platform to reach out to her and say that I wish that we do not have any problem. I want to see her on the street and say hello to her without feeling bad. She should forgive me if she has anything against me. I ask that she should forgive me. If she is listening, whatever problems we have, she should forgive me.
“Nowadays, people die anyhow, so if you have issues with someone, it doesn’t help. I want us to live in peace and I don’t continue living with that burden on my conscience,” she said.
A year later, Mzbel claimed in a recent interview with Fiifi Pratt on Accra-based Kingdom FM that even though she has unconditional forgiveness for her ex-friend, Iona, she will never be entertained anywhere near her.
Asked if she has an idea of Iona’s marriage, the Tv host said; ‘Naa I don’t know about her marriage. Seriously…I wouldn’t have attended if she had invited me too. In my heart, I have forgiven her but I have to be careful and vigilant.
