“I Never New Showing A Gun On Social Media Was A Crime Until I Was Arrested” – Medikal
Samuel Adu Frimpong, better known in entertainment circles as Medikal, the Ghanaian rapper, has bemoaned that he had no idea his impulsive conduct could land him in jail until he was caught.
He claims he had no notion that flashing a pistol or any other weapon on social media was a felony until he was detained for doing so.
Medikal was detained by police after being captured brandishing a pistol in a popular video on social media. On his initial appearance in court, he was detained in a police prison for five days. Later, he was released on a GHc100,000 bond with one surety.
In an interview with Andy Dosty on Hitz FM's Daybreak, Medikal discussed the lessons he's learned through his legal troubles. Hitz claimed that until he was caught, he had no idea that brandishing a gun on social media was a criminal act.
He simply had the idea that drawing a pistol in public could land him in trouble with the law rather than exhibiting it on social media, according to him. He indicated that he agreed with the public's accusations that he was handled unfairly by the law and that the entire affair perplexed him.
Medikal also warned his supporters and Ghanaians to be more cautious in their transactions because one never knows what can land them in legal trouble.
