The unthinkable happened during a walkabout with a throng in the Drome region of southern France, according to reports.
The extraordinary occurrence occurred on Tuesday, June 8, 2021, according to reports from BFM TV and RMC radio.
Macron and his entourage were reportedly on a visit to the Drome area, where he spoke with locals and students to discuss how life is returning to normal following the Covid-19 outbreak.
The white long-sleeved shirt-wearing Macron is shown marching directly to the throng, seemingly to address it, before the guy emerged and attacked him, according to the footage that has been circulating online.
The President’s security guards were seen quickly acting to save him, as others ran into the throng to apprehend the assailant.

According to reports, two persons have been detained in relation to the event.
