“Stop Sending Interns And NSS Personnel On ‘Waakye’ Errands” – Nana Aba Anamoah To Companies
Most firms' indiscriminate desire to transform interns and national service members into errand boys and girls appears to be a rising tendency in Ghana, which Nana Aba Anamoah strongly opposes.
The major reason these interns and NSS workers are sent to firms, according to the broadcaster, is to serve, learn, and improve their talents rather than to function as slaves.
Nana Aba claimed she has noticed a pattern where interns and NSS employees are put on long errands to purchase “waakye” and allocated other boring duties that have no clear relation to what they were deployed to these firms to accomplish in an exclusive interview that has gone viral.
Companies should instead provide interns and NSS people with the necessary skills and information to put them up for professional success, according to Nana Aba Anamoah.
“Just because the old toiled to get to where they now do not imply that those coming up must suffer as they did.” I have a problem with media houses; we don't offer young people adequate opportunities. “When an intern is posted, he or she is assigned to ‘waakye' buying tasks until he or she is fed up,” she explained.
