Wendy Shay was asked if she is a celebrity by after she defined the term on Twitter in response to DCOP Kofi Boakye's rebuke of individuals who label themselves celebrities.

DCOP Kofi Boakye chastises persons who call themselves celebrities but do things opposite to what they're meant to be doing when the IGP and creative art industry participants meet, and Wendy Shay reacts by defining the word for him.

According to Wendy Shay, celebrity is an English word that refers to a well-known person, particularly in the fields of entertainment or sports, but it appears that some Ghanaians have their own definition for the term, arguing that someone who is well-known also causes suffering.

Wendy Shay asked if she is a celebrity, and Kwadwo Sheldon responded with a simple remark that she has no right to call herself a celebrity because she is not well-known in the entertainment sector.

Some prominent personalities believe that everyone with a little celebrity qualifies as a celebrity, however, this is not the case, and according to Wendy Shay's definition, to be a famous person, you must be recognized by practically everyone.

This simply implies that the majority of industry participants who refer to themselves as celebrities are not eligible to do so in the first place since they are not renowned, but because everyone wants to be recognized as such, they all do so.
