Mark Zuckerberg dismisses 60 Meta employees ‘at random
Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook CEO used an algorithm to lay off 60 Meta employees after warning of imminent “tough performance reviews.”
Facebook is the latest huge tech business to undertake mass layoffs, purportedly selecting 60 contractors at random using an algorithm.
The unlucky contractors were hired by Meta through Accenture's Austin branch, despite the company having a roughly $500 million contract with Meta to supply personnel in content moderation and business integrity.
According to Business Insider, workers were warned via video conference call that there will be no work starting September 2 and that pay would expire on October 3. Other than being chosen “at random,” no specific justifications were offered.
