‘It will be very difficult to beat South Korea’ – Coach Otto Addo
Otto Addo, the coach of Ghana, has acknowledged that defeating South Korea in their second group game would be difficult.
The Black Stars’ 2022 World Cup campaign began on Thursday with a match against Portugal at the 974 Stadium.
The European team won 3-2 against the four-time African champions.
At the Education City Stadium on Monday at 13:00 GMT, Ghana will try to win their second group match against South Korea.
Before the game against the Asian team, Addo said that they must win against the Koreans in order to advance to the next round of the competition.
When asked if Ghana can advance to the competition’s second round after its match against Portugal, the 49-year-old responded, “First of all, certainly, we have a chance, especially because they played a draw. If we win against South Korea and Portugal wins, hopefully, against Uruguay, then we will be second, so the chance is still great.
“And surely it will be very, very tough to beat South Korea because they are good. But now we have to win.
“We are under pressure but they are too,” he added.
Portugal now leads the group after the outcome, but given that South Korea and Uruguay drew 0-0 earlier in the day, the Black Stars’ loss today might not be too costly.
At Al Janoub Stadium in Al Wakrah, Ghana’s group stage campaign will come to a thrilling conclusion when they take on Uruguay.
