Wendy Shay Reveals The Reason Behind Her ‘Free’ Shay Concert
Ghanaian singer Wendy Shay, officially known as Wendy Asiamah Addo, has explained why her event, the “Shay Concert,” has always been free for fans.
She answered the 3Music Daily crew's question with a simple, “They stream my songs.” She said, “I was the top female artist for streaming last year [in 2022], so I figured, ‘Why not offer something for my fans?'”
The encouragement that the German-trained nurse has gotten from her followers since making her “Uber Driver” 2018 debut means a lot to her.
It means a lot to me. I mean, [they] are the reason I am who I am. The award-winning singer said, “They play a really major part, so I feel like that is the greatest way I can give back to them so they can feel the connection [we have] and know that I care about them too.”
The “Shay Concert” made its debut in 2018, held a follow-up in 2019, and then took a break as a result of the COVID-19 epidemic. This Saturday, January 7, 2023, it will return. At the West Hills Mall in Weija, there will be a free medical exam during the day and a music event starting at 7 p.m.
Industry fellows like Shatta Wale, Medikal, Fameye, Kelvynboy, Mr. Drew, Lasmid, AK Songtress, Eno Barony, and many others will support Wendy.
