My Toughest Match was Against Richard Gutierrez, I Urinated Blood After That Match – Joshua Clottey
Joshua Clottey of Ghana claims that his fight with Richard Gutierrez was the hardest he has ever fought in his boxing career, and he claims that he urinated blood after the fight.
In an end-to-end bout that introduced the Ghanaian to the world, Clottey faced Gutierrez in California more than ten years ago.
The former IBF champion claims it was his most challenging bout, despite the fact that he prevailed by majority decision.
Clottey said that following the battle with the Colombian, his ribs were so damaged that he was unable to cough and even urinated blood.
The 45-year-old claimed on Joy News’ Prime Take, “My most challenging fight was against [Richard] Gutierez; it was Gutierrez, not [Antonio] Margarito, not Miguel Cotto.”
“After the fight, my injured ribs prevented me from coughing.” He worked incredibly hard on me. He punched me so hard that, when I returned to my hotel, I had peed pure red blood.
