Ghanaian musician Mr. Drew has posted a mysterious statement on social media in response to problems stemming from Mohbad's passing and his claimed unsolved disputes with his old record company.
In an official statement from his legal team, Mohbad announced his departure from Marlian Records in October 2022. The statement claimed that the CEO, Naira Marley, had been behind some unpaid royalties since 2019 and the ongoing abuses Mohbad had endured.
As a result, it was said that the Nigerian musician continually avoided a number of death traps set up by his old record label up until his passing.
Following the terrible news of his passing, messages from his coworkers stating that he had frequently received death threats have also gone public, which has further increased the rumors that his old record company was somehow involved in his passing.
Additionally, a few videos in which Mohbad was seen pleading for assistance and warning the public about the severity of death threats from his previous record label sparked the current discussion.
That's not all, as the Nigerian musician claimed in an old video that leaked online that his former record company had prevented him from getting “gigs,” preventing him from accessing his revenue.
But amid the growing debate and the purported scheme that was believed to have led to Mohbad's murder, Mr. Drew has reacted.
The former Highly Spiritual label signee, who has also engaged in a number of back-and-forths with his former CEO, claimed that the music industry is growing more dangerous for “record label artists” every day.
“We started this because we wanted to chase our passion dreams .. but it's becoming more and more scary every day.. it's turned into negativity and despair.. May God grant us light and peace,” he wrote as a caption to excerpts of his new song.
