“Urban Gospel Has A Very Long Way To Go” – Cwesi Oteng
Urban gospel in Ghana has changed throughout time, and Ghanaian modern gospel performer Cwesi Oteng has discussed his thoughts on this development.
A while back, Cwesi Oteng talked about the days when urban gospel was a significant but clandestine society in an interview that aired on ShoBiz TV’s SunUp program.
He added that although he is happy with the genre’s present status in Ghana, he is not pleased with it and feels wonderful about the situation of urban gospel at the moment. Nevertheless, he believes that more can be done.
The procedure was drawn out. Furthermore, that procedure is still ongoing. Sure, we still have a music problem. Though we can improve, it’s acknowledged,” he remarked.
Nathaniel Bassey won’t visit Ghanaian musicians and demand that they create songs in English if they are totally accepted. All he’s saying is that we should listen to English music because we don’t have to hear that kind of talk right now. We’ve been saying it for a while,” he said.
Cwesi Oteng emphasized the significance of using a language that others can comprehend while expressing one’s profession.
He emphasized that this is one of the reasons some civilizations rule the globe and that urban gospel musicians must adjust properly.
A certain culture is ruling the globe, and part of the rationale for this is that they are mastering their trade and conveying it in ways that the general public can comprehend.
“As I often say, more has to be done. Right now, I don’t think we should be celebrating victories. We still know where we can improve significantly. White folks need to hear our music sung. We need to see churches all around the world singing our music,” he declared.
