“Things Are very Hard For Me, Sometimes I Just Want to Quit Music” – Kumi Guitar Cries Out
Ghanian high-life singer, Kumi Guitar has said that he is still struggling in the music industry and that he is considering retiring forever.
Furthermore, he claims that seeing the misery of music business veterans who have nothing to show for their legendary position has triggered a panic response in him. On the Showbiz Xtra broadcast on Happy 98.9 FM, the Highlife artist revealed this information to Docta Cann.
Kumi Guitar believes that suitable institutions should be built within the music industry so that players may enjoy the fruits of their labor since things now appear to be bleak for him and other artists.
“When I witness the life and living circumstances of our aging musicians, I fear for my own safety. Some claim that they did not live decent and meaningful lives or that they refused to invest their money, but this is incorrect. They can't sink that low and be broke in their old age if the mechanisms are working.”
If the systems had functioned, he claims, the late Nana Ampadu would not have died in such a terrible manner. “Nana Ampadu was still working, but let's take a look at how he was doing. This makes me concerned about my own safety.”
“Sometimes it gets tough, and I wonder if I should quit playing music or not,” Kumi explained. It can be difficult at times. We have to look after our families and children.”
According to his estimates, over 98 percent of artists are sad, and “while we are smiling on the outside, we are dying on the inside.” We don't make a living off of music, and the few that don't make a living off of it either. People in the music industry, both producers and performers, are suffering.”
“Our legends are not getting recognized for their efforts,” he added.
