My fellow Dancehall artistes are scared to endorse me because my voice is a threat – King Vuvu

An ‘open secret' that would take others years to spill has just been spewed easily by King Vuvu.

Just after celebrating his birthday, BeenieWords caught up with Ghanaian Dancehall Artiste, King Vuvu. In close to an hour interview with the ‘King's Palace' front-liner, he spoke about a lot on his rebrand and repackaging activities which has been ongoing for a while on the quiet.

Shredding off lots of confidence in his talent during the interview, King Vuvu, was quick to admit that he isn't recognized in mainstream select because many of his contemporaries are afraid of him.

“Majority of them are very scared of me. They are scared of my talent. They know how wild and organic I am when it comes to touching the microphone and showing off my craft on stage and in studio; so they find it hard to endorse me into the scene. But now I have my own Management Team I am working with and putting things together so very soon I will explode and they can't handle my pressure,” King Vuvu spits.

Honing his music craft for over 10 years, he was first known within the Ga Mashie as “Vuvushi” then he later bent it into “King Vuvu”, a name he says was given to him by 2 of his ghetto colleagues a decade ago while he was showing off his craft.

King Vuvu is a household name within the Ghanaian Reggae/Dancehall sect, undoubtedly one of the untapped ‘crazy' talent the country has birthed. He was known all over Ga Mashie especially Mamprobi where he was formerly based until he settled in Alhaji Tabora with his ‘ghetto clique' called “King's Palace”.

Shatta Wale was one of King Vuvu's godfathers when he (the latter) was honing his craft in Mamprobi. He's admitted learning a couple under Shatta Wale at the time when he was known as “Bandana”. But for now, King Vuvu wants to concentrate on grooming himself instead of understudying others. He feels he's ripe for the market and needs the support of fans and industry.

“We Nuh Sleep” was his debut single for 2019; it came with an official video and he song is listed on global music stores. He has released several songs in the previous years and shot videos for them as well. Amongst them are songs like “I Have Jah”, “Winner”, “Yi Shurum”. Many major Ghanaian Reggae/Dancehall stages have hosted him and other mainstream acts.
