“I Consulted George Darko Before Using A Verse From His Song In My New Song” – Sarkodie Clarifies
A verse from George Darko's Odo color appears in Sarkodie's new track, “Coachella.” This clever act, according to Sarkodie, would have no consequences because all requirements have been met.
Sarkodie addressed any concerns about the song's recognizable verse in an interview with Giovani Caleb on 3FM Drive. According to the musician, if you follow the steps correctly, you will not be labeled a song pirate.
He further stated that if someone decided to use his work, he would demand the same approach. “You have to get the permission of whoever owns the rights to the music,” he stated. That is exactly how I would want to be treated. I'd like my Titi and MJ to earn some recognition or money from individuals who try to utilize my work even after I'm gone.”
Sarkodie stated that he would not have done the proper thing when he first started out in the music industry. The music industry, on the other hand, has developed to embrace the financial element of the art form. So, before using someone's work, you must obtain permission and adhere to the terms and conditions. He underlined that all standards must be met before the music may be released.
“And with Odo Colour, we did precisely that. Daddy George Darko deserves a big thank you for helping everything go so well for us. We had a discussion. He was also given credit as a writer because he wrote that line. And that is the best course of action.
In the hook, Kwesi Arthur gave it a hippie and modern atmosphere, which works well with their music style.
Coachella, produced by MOGBeatz and featuring Kwesi Arthur, is another track off the long-awaited No Pressure Album.
