“I Knew I Wasn’t The Winner After Mark Opened The Leaflet To Announce The Winner”- Kidi Reveals
Kidi, the disgruntled Ghanaian musician, has revealed that he discovered he didn't win the ultimate Artiste of the Year award at the just-concluded 22nd Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs) when Hon. Before the announcement, Mark Okraku Mantey opened the leaflet.
Kidi claimed that he was actually staring into the eyes of the new Deputy Minister of Tourism Hon. Mark Okraku Mantey with his long eye sight when he opened the leaflet to see who won the Artiste of the Year award of the night and was startled to see that he was not the winner.
He claimed that Mark's eyes signaled to him that the person receiving the prize has a long name, and for a brief moment, he believed it was his colleague musician and record label partner Kuami Eugene who had won it back-to-back.
In the interview, Kidi also voiced his displeasure with certain Christians who labeled him a “devil.” Ghanaians and Christians in Ghana, he added, should begin to understand that musicians who perform in genres other than Gospel music are not demons.
He went on to say that some of the country's secular artists had better personalities and manners than most Gospel singers, whom people consider to be “saints.”
