The Ghana Football Association's (GFA) Communications Director said that the Black Stars made five efforts to persuade Mohammed to play for them.

According to Southampton defender Henry Asante Twum, the Black Stars' past three coaches sought him, but he declined.

CK Akonnor, Milovan Rajevac, and current coach Otto Addo, according to him, gave it their all, but insisted on more time.

Asante Twum remarked on Citi TV's The Point of View, “We've made overtures on four or five occasions.”

C.K. Akonnor attempted but failed, and Milovan tried but failed. Otto tried, but Salisu still believes he needs more time. “

Salisu has established himself as one of Europe's greatest young players after a strong start to the season at Southampton.

After impressing in matches against Manchester United, Arsenal, and most recently, Manchester City, he has taken the Premier League by storm.

All attempts to persuade him to play for the Black Stars have so far failed, with the center-back turning down a call-up to compete in the 2021 AFCON.

He declined an offer to play in the two-legged Qatar 2022 World Cup playoff game against Nigeria for the second time.

When he sought to persuade Salisu to play for Ghana, the football executive was told to “keep away.”

Meanwhile, a segment of the public has called for Salisu to be barred from ever playing for the Black Stars following Ghana's World Cup qualifying.

The head of the Black Stars management committee instructed Alhaji Karim Grunsah, the owner of King Faisal FC, to persuade the center-back, but his efforts failed.
