I Was Given The ‘Queen Of Ghana Music’ By My Fans – Wendy Shay

Rufftown Records signee Wendy Asiamah Addo, better known by her stage name Wendy Shay, explained her assertion that she is the reigning monarch of Ghanaian music. She believes that everyone is a queen and that it is okay to refer to oneself as such.

Three years after her debut, Wendy Shay made news when she said on social media that she was the queen of Ghanaian music. She continued by saying that, other than Beyonce, she cannot be compared to any other female performer in the business.

Many people believed Wendy Shay's assertion dismissed their efforts and industry experience; therefore, they took issue with it.

Wendy Shay defended herself by saying that the title belonged to her admirers. She also said that the purpose of her article was to recognize it. So she didn't

“First of all, my admirers earned me the nickname “Queen of Ghana Music.” And who actually enjoys nice things? When they handed me the title, I said, “If you want to call me the queen of Ghanaian music, I'll accept it.”

That was to confirm that she had accepted the title because it had been bestowed upon her by her fans, she explained to 3 Music.

Wendy Shay added that everyone has the right to call themselves whatever they want. She made the point that since she was talking about herself, others could choose to do the same.
